Women in diplomacy. Deputy
Minister Mościcka-Dendys attends conference in Rome
“In the 1980s, Poland was economically bankrupt and
few believed in a better future. Today, our transformation experience is
Poland’s trademark and best export product,” Deputy Minister Henryka
Mościcka-Dendys told the “Women in Diplomacy School” conference in Rome.
Hosted by the Italian Foreign Ministry and the
Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), the event is addressed to
women from the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood and the Middle East. The debate’s
aim is to encourage participants to play more active roles in public life.
The Polish deputy minister shared with the audience
Poland’s experiences of systemic transition, political reforms and cooperation
with civil society after 1989.
“2014 is a special year for the Polish people, as we
mark 25 years since the Round Table agreement, 15 years of our NATO membership,
and 10 years since we joined the European Union,” recalled Deputy Minister
Mościcka-Dendys. “It is my strong belief that there’s no better path to freedom
than the one we embarked on 25 years ago. Today, we can share our experience of
this path,” she added.
