Undersecretary of State Bogusław Winid had a meeting with Bishop Jerzy Mazur, Head of the Polish Episcopal Conference’s Commission for Missions, to talk about stepping up the co-operation and streamlining the exchange of information between Poland’s missionaries and diplomatic service, especially in Africa. The meeting was held in Warsaw on May 9th.
The bishop was accompanied by Father Krzysztof Szymczycha, Ph.D., Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Missions, and Father Zbigniew Sobolewski, Ph.D., Director for the Ad Gentes Missionary and Charitable Activity. The talk centred on the tensions in the Central African Republic, where Polish missionaries are working. Deputy Minister Winid and Bishop Mazur discussed the current matters related to the Polish missionaries’ operations, particularly in developing countries.

TttTheThe meeting’s participants appraised highly the co-operation so far
between missionaries and Polish diplomatic posts. “New challenges facing our
institutions incline us to strengthen the co-operation both abroad and at the
co-ordination level in Warsaw,” said Deputy Minister Winid. The meeting set up
a bilateral Working Team, responsible for, among others, preparing a joint
conference between the MFA and Poland’s missionaries in June, which will
address the issue of safety in the world’s hot spots.
