Foreign ministers of V4 and Egypt meet in Bratislava
Deepening of cooperation with one of the most important countries covered by the Southern Dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy was at the top of the agenda of the first meeting between foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group and Egypt (V4+Egypt) in Bratislava on 15 May. Poland was represented by Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys.
Chiefs of diplomacy of the V4 and Egypt discussed the fight against terrorism, protection of human rights, exchange of transformation experiences and bolstering economic cooperation. “Poland supports international measures to fight terrorism. Let us note that there is a close link between these efforts and good governance, economic development and security,” said Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, discussing the war on terrorism.
The ministers talked about the security situation in North Africa and the Middle East, and the future of the Middle East peace process. The discussion also focused on the crisis in Syria and P5+1 consultations (the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany) about Iran’s nuclear programme. The ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning an exchange of diplomats between the V4 countries.
