“I’m glad that so much emphasis was put on African issues during the discussion. A leader in Central Europe, Poland could become one of Africa’s key partners,” Undersecretary of State Katarzyna Kacperczyk told the European Economic Congress, which is taking place in Katowice on 7-9 May.
“What gives companies from our region, including from Poland, a clear advantage is that their goods are high-quality while being sold cheaper than products from highly developed countries,” the deputy chief of Poland’s diplomacy said during a panel on economic cooperation between countries from Central and Eastern Europe, and Africa. “At the same time, we share the experience of economic transformation, something that Poland can offer to our partners in Africa,” added Deputy Minister Kacperczyk.

At the congress, Deputy Minister Kacperczyk also took part in talks on prospects for fostering economic relations between European countries and China, and ways to support Polish businesses’ expansion into foreign markets. Moreover, she presented last year’s achievements of Polish economic diplomacy, and plans for 2014.

Held for the sixth time running this year, the European Economic Congress is organized by the Polish Society for Supporting Entrepreneurship. This three-day congress, which is hosted by the capital city of Upper Silesia, is considered to be one of Europe’s major business events. The meeting’s scale and thematic scope have expanded with each consecutive edition, and cover a broadly defined social and economic development of Poland and the European Union.
