Polish-Czech economic talks

“Since Poland’s and the Czech Republic’s accession to the European Union, our bilateral trade increased threefold and exceeded euro 15 billion in 2013. This is a good result, but there is still room for improvement,” said Undersecretary of State Kacperczyk at a meeting with Director General for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Karol Neuwirth. The meeting took place on 25 March in Warsaw.

The discussion focused on Europe’s energy security, energy cooperation in the Visegrad Group (V4) and progress in negotiations of the US-EU Free Trade Agreement (TTIP). “Cooperation with all V4 countries, including the Czech Republic, is crucial to building our strong position in the EU,” concluded Poland’s deputy foreign minister.

The meeting follows a series of manifestations of closer ties between Poland and the Czech Republic. On 26 February, the new Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek paid a visit to Warsaw, and on 3 March Deputy Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk attended an energy seminar in Prague
